Liberties with the lingo …

EUPHEMISMS – language used deliberately to disguise or in some cases deceive – aren’t new in business, politics and the travel and tourism industry – but Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic space travel company set a new low in its statement about its disaster in California.

The statement on Virgin Galactic’s website (www.virgingalactic.com) described the explosion – which killed one pilot and seriously injured another – as a “serious anomaly”. Like ebola, then … just another serious anomaly?
