FEARS of flying and terrorism have led to an increasing demand in Britain for homeland holidays, says Andrew Hughes, the managing director of motorhome rental company UnbeatableHire.
Many families are changing their 2015 holiday plans to avoid flying and visiting riskier destinations such as Egypt and Tunisia.
Recent data suggests that self-catering and camping holidays are growing in popularity in response to terrorist attacks overseas, with the most favoured UK regions being the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands, and Cornwall.
Mr Hughes says his company has seen a marked increase in bookings against the same time last year.
‘Families are genuinely worried about taking holidays that involve flying or visiting risky destinations. To meet the demand, we've invested over £3.6 million in 100 new vehicles and opened more new hire depots.’
