Lighthouse holiday

MALTA’S National Trust has converted accommodation in a Victorian #lighthouse into apartments for holiday lets.

Built on the island’s south coast in 1856, the Delimara Lighthouse has views of Marsascala Port, is close to two fishing villages, and is a few minutes’ walk from the rocky beaches and the waters of Peter’s Pool.

The simplicity of the keepers’ quarters has been retained: there are mosquito nets over each bed, the original stone elements in the kitchen have been kept, and the original limewash colour scheme has been replicated.

Each of the apartments – which can be rented individually or together – sleeps five.

Rates are €80 (£56.35) per day per apartment (although there are discounts for Din l-Art Helwa/National Trust of #Malta members) and a minimum stay of three nights is required. The proceeds from holiday rentals are used solely for restoration and environmental funds of the not-for-profit organization.
