Up in the air . . .



bmi regional and Loganair have become part of a newly-formed regional airline group, Airline Investments Limited. Each carrier will continue to operate as a distinct brands.

Lufthansa is introducing a new price concept for flights in Europe. The Economy Class fare options “Light”, “Classic” and “Flex” will apply from October 1 for domestic and European flights. The booked fare can be complemented by additional services. Jens Bischof at Lufthansa explained: ‘It is the wish of many customers to pay only for the services they actually make use of. With this new fare concept, we are doing just that. Every passenger will be able to individually create a tailor-made flight with the various service components that we are offering.’

New York's LaGuardia airport is to be rebuilt. Work is due to start next year, with the first re-designed section of the airport expected to be open in 2019. US Vice President Joe Biden has compared the airport to ‘some Third World country’.
