#CYPRUS has been ranked the fifth safest country in the world – after Switzerland, Singapore, Spain, and Japan – and the safest among countries with a population of less than five million.
The study – by US-based research company Value Penguin – analyzed seven data categories in determining the ranking position of 107 countries: population, CO2 emissions, life expectancy, the number of national police personnel per 100,000 people, traffic deaths, thefts, and assaults.
Cyprus was praised for its high number of national police personnel per 100,000 people (466), as well as the low number of thefts, at 111 per 100,000.
