The video features cameo appearances from director Sir Peter Jackson and cast members of the films.
The airline’s latest safety video follows the highly successful An Unexpected Briefing released in 2012, which has become a global hit with more than 12 million views online.
The new video is expected to be rolled out across the airline’s fleet from late October.
Air New Zealand is renowned for its innovative safety videos which have collectively clocked up more than 30 million hits online and been viewed by millions of passengers on board.
Past hits include Safety Old School Style featuring America’s sweetheart of comedy, Betty White, and a collaboration with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit to celebrate its 50th anniversary - Safety in Paradise.
