VALLETTA, Malta, has been named European Capital of Culture for 2018.
The city takes its name from its founder, the Grand Master of the Order of St. John, Jean Parisot de la Valette.
The grid of narrow streets, says Visit Malta, “boasts some of Europe's finest art works, churches, and palaces”.
