VISIT ISLE OF WIGHT is
putting money into a new campaign to boost tourism numbers ahead of the traditional
peak holiday season. A total of £210,000 has been gathered by the tourism
board, council and industry partners to promote the island across press and
radio, with the destination also part of a VisitEngland campaign.
‘We saw good growth in the
late spring and summer last year and whilst visitor numbers have been
challenged by poor weather over the winter, we have still performed far better
than the mainland seaside resorts,’ said David Thornton, chief executive of
Visit IoW.
