CHESTERFIELD'S
Market Hall – which got its charter in 1204 - has been given a £4 million
make-over.
In addition to its
regular general market, Chesterfield hosts one of England’s largest weekly flea
markets – every Thursday. Similar in style to European flea markets, it
features an eclectic and unpredictable mix of antiques, collectables, and
bric-a-brac on dozens of its stalls.
Proud of its
heritage, Chesterfield steps back into the Middle Ages for one day every year with
a medieval themed market, when its traders – some of them in period costumes –
are joined by strollers and players.
This year's medieval market will be on July
29.
