Take a child-free break …

ALMOST two thirds of parents are taking short breaks without their children in a bid to enjoy time together as a couple, according to a survey by travel company SuperBreak.

It found that many parents taking short breaks were happy to leave their children with grandparents as the preferred choice of guardian while they were away. They said travelling without children gave them more freedom to visit the locations they wanted to see, saved money, and avoided the complications of taking children out of school during term time.

Khalid Amin at SuperBreak said: ‘We have definitely seen a shift in booking patterns this year, with an increase in customers choosing to travel out of peak season to save money (42%) or to take advantage of quieter locations (28%).

With so many European destinations on our doorstep, it’s never been easier to escape for a few days away with or without the children!’
