Strong £ bonus for UK holidaymakers

RESEARCH by the UK online travel agent On the Beach has revealed that holidays to several popular destinations are cheaper this year compared to last.

Tipped to become a major holiday destination for sun-starved Brits, summer holidays in Croatia – outside the Eurozone – are on average 50 percent cheaper this summer compared to last.

Research also shows holidays on several popular Greek islands are less costly, with both Corfu and Samos eight percent cheaper than last year. Other islands offering better deals include Crete and Kefalonia, both down three percent on the previous year. With the British pound recently hitting a 22-month high against the euro, holidaymakers will get more bang for their buck …or pound.

Alistair Daly, chief marketing officer at On the Beach comments: ‘Our research shows that there are many good bargain holidays out there, with some of the most popular

destinations showing significant savings compared to last year. With the pound performing well against the euro, holidays in certain destinations this year will certainly prove cheaper than they were last year.’
