Wales tourism handicapped by limited marketing spend

TOURISM experts claim that marketing spend in Wales needs to be “at least doubled” if the country is to reach its potential for attracting overseas visitors.

In the year 2013/2014, Visit Scotland spent £47.5 million on marketing, while Visit Wales spent just £7 million.

The Campaign for the Rural Protection of Wales suggests greater recognition of the country’s natural environment will help drive tourism. Twenty percent of Wales is covered by national parks – Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia, and the Brecon Beacons.
